Track8: Hanging on the Telephone, Blondie (1978)
Phishing doesn’t stop at email
Back in Blondie’s day, phones had cords and prank calls were the worst thing that could happen. Now? Your phone
is a hacker’s favourite gateway. Vishing, smishing, WhatsApp scams, same old trick, just new packaging.
Gen X remembers calling radio stations and hoping we didn’t get cut off. Hackers use the same persistence. They’ll keep calling, texting, DM’ing until someone picks up.
Here’s the kicker, your staff are still the weakest link. A “CEO voice” on the phone saying “transfer funds” is enough to make some poor soul hit send. Resilience means training them to hang up, verify, and not get starstruck by authority.
Phishing is everywhere, phone, text, socials. If you’re only watching your inbox, you’re missing half the gig. Don’t just hang on the telephone.
Hang up on the scam.
