Using public Wi-Fi can be convenient, but it comes with risks.  Staying cautious can help you browse safely while on the go.  Here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep your data secure.

✅ Do’s:

• Use a VPN – A Virtual Private Network encrypts your connection, making it harder for hackers to intercept your data.
• Verify the Network – Always connect to official Wi-Fi networks, not random ones with suspicious names.
• Turn Off Sharing – Disable file sharing, printer access, and AirDrop to prevent unauthorized access.
• Stick to HTTPS Websites – Look for “https://” in the URL to ensure encrypted communication with websites.
• Forget the Network After Use – Remove it from your saved networks to prevent automatic reconnections.

❌ Don’ts:

• Avoid Online Banking & Sensitive Transactions – Public Wi-Fi isn’t secure enough for handling financial or personal data.
• Don’t Use the Same Passwords – If login details are stolen, using the same password across accounts makes it easier for attackers.
• Never Download Suspicious Files – Hackers can inject malware into downloads, so only get files from trusted sources.
• Don’t Leave Wi-Fi Enabled – Turn off Wi-Fi when you don’t need it to avoid automatic connections to unsafe networks.
• Skip Free Wi-Fi with No Password – Networks without passwords are often unencrypted and highly vulnerable to attacks.
